The GlycoBiology SUMMER SCHOOL was a success
The Summer School was held on September 23-25 at the School of Sciences of the University of Minho. It was organised by Cândida Lucas and Ana Preto (UMINHO) and it was a joint learning event that counted with lecturers from 4 I/ETNs focussed on GlycoBiology (Glycopharm, Immunoshape, Gastric Glyco Explorer and GlycoPar) together with several guest invited speakers. This successful event served to promote inter-Glyco-I/ETN connections. Main topics were glycobiology of cancer, carbohydrate immunomodulators, structural glycopharmaceutics and parasite glycobiology. Key aspects of lectin-ligand interactions and glycan’s shape and dynamics, as well as different examples of glycoimmunology, were also described.
The Summer School further included a workshop on research management and intellectual property in an EU funding context and a final session dedicated to discuss funding applications and opportunities for the career development of the recruited researchers. This and other networking activities carried out during the Summer School served to establish and promote inter-Glyco-ITN connections.
